"My son has been able to follow these simple stretches and exercises that were recommended by Dr Sonja and has been able to improve his posture."
"We recently had our 2 boys posture screen done. It has been very informative and helpful in analysing their posture and how we can implement stretches and exercises at home to correct their posture and strengthen their core."
"In this digital age, we really need to be reminded regularly how we are impacting our bodies with increased screen time. The result of the posture screen has made us much more aware of our posture, especially when it comes to screen use."
Our children are being raised in Generation 'C' (connected), a generation of digital natives who interact with technology in every aspect of their lives. And because of this, Generation C is going to suffer with Tech Neck Posture.
Technology has impacted the quality of our lives, but it's also impacted the quality of our health standards. We can't blame technology, because in many ways it has positive outcomes. So let's not be anti-tech, but pro health.
Tech Neck Posture is a term that has been coined to explain how looking down at devices with the neck in a fixed forward position at varying angles increases the amount of pressure compressing the neck. When the head is flexed forward gravity has a down force on the head and can result in postural collapse.
Many parents are concerned about their children sitting in a slouched, stooped forward position for long periods of time.
I am a chiropractor and have been working in private practice for 16 years. Recently I completed a course on Pediatric posture with the American Posture Institute. There is so much you can do to strengthen and develop postural fitness to prevent postural collapse.
With the Posture Screen we can establish which muscles are weak and we can assist with corrective strengthening exercise.
